Chahroudi Cottage
Mahopac, NY 1951
Wright’s 1951 Chahroudi Cottage is on the market as a part of the sale of Petra (or Petre) Island in Mahopac, NY. The approximately 1200-square-foot structure was designed as a guest cottage for a much larger house that was not built. The cottage is constructed of Wright’s signature concrete rubble stone, one of the few examples of this material outside of the Southwest.
Petra Island is an eleven-acre island in Lake Mahopac, 50 miles north of New York. The island also includes a 5000-square-foot house, built in 2008, which was inspired by Wright’s design for the intended main house.
