Duncan House
Acme, PA 1957
In 1956 Wright designed the first of three prefabricated housing models for Marshall Erdman. Originally constructed in 1957 in the Chicago suburb of Lisle, Illinois, the Duncan House is one of nine houses built on the Erdman Homes Prefab #1 plan. It has a single-story, elongated L-shaped plan with three bedrooms, a carport and a basement. When Donald Duncan died in 2002, a developer planned to build several houses on the acreage. Demolition was a certainty unless the house could be moved. The Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy facilitated the transfer of the house to Pennsylvania, where in 2007 it was rebuilt at the 130-acre Polymath Park and opened for tours and overnight stays.
