Wright’s Prairie house for the Little family stretched 250 feet along the wooded shore of Lake Minnetonka in Deephaven, Minnesota. When all attempts by the Littles to find a suitable buyer or alternate use for the house failed in the early 1970s, the house was slated for demolition. At that point, the Metropolitan Museum stepped in to save parts of the structure before it was razed in 1972. The 55-foot-long pavilion containing the living room is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It originally crowned a knoll and functioned as a space for musical recitals and for entertaining. Twelve paired art glass panels were centered along each of the side walls.
