This brick, cast concrete and cypress dwelling has a high, continuous band of windows set in sand-colored concrete blocks that relieves the solid masonry of the street facade. The garden facade is composed of floor-to-ceiling glass mitered at the corners. Wright designed the landscape as well as all of the freestanding and built-in furniture. He also selected the textiles and the family’s dinnerware. The use of built-ins, a continuous concrete floor mat and dramatic changes in ceiling height make this small house seem larger than its 1,667 square feet. In 1988 the building was bequeathed to the Currier Museum of Art, which undertook its restoration and now offers regular guided tours departing from the museum.
