Join us on Tuesday, February 21 at 6:00 p.m. CST as we learn about the exciting preservation work that has been done at the David & Gladys Wright House in Phoenix, Arizona.

Local advocates and the Conservancy fought hard in 2012 to save the house from demolition. Fortunately they prevailed, but it needed significant work – and a dedicated owner willing to do it. Since purchasing the house in 2020, Bing Hu has performed major restoration, gotten the house listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and donated a preservation easement to The School of Architecture to legally protect it.

The David & Gladys Wright House, built for Frank Lloyd Wright’s son and daughter-in-law in 1950-52, is one of Wright’s most innovative, unusual and personal works of architecture. Its spectacular design features include custom concrete block detailing and the bold processional movement through the patio and up the encircling ramp into the remarkable interior. Wright’s original drawing for the house described it as a response to “How to Live in the Southwest.”
